Wine and Dine in Downtown Sac

Three people toasting glasses of red wine over a meal

Residents at The Arbors are always looking for the best restaurants and wine bars to try when they are looking to wine and dine a new companion or their longtime significant other. But finding top quality options is never easy to accomplish. You can try a place based on fantastic ratings on Yelp or other review websites, only to visit the recommendation for yourself and wind up very unhappy with the food, service, or something else entirely.

Sometimes it’s easier to trust information shared by websites in your local community. If you live in The Arbors, you know that we want you to have an amazing fine dining experience every time you go out for a meal and a glass of wine with your better half. To help make your experiences amazing, we’d like to share four of our favorite places to go for a great meal and an even better glass (or bottle) of wine!

1. Whired

We are happy to tell you about Whired Wine Bar located at 410 L St. in Sacramento. They are open on Monday through Thursday from 4 PM to 10 PM, on Friday from 4 PM to 11 PM, and on Saturday from 5 PM to 11 PM. They are not open on Sundays.

More than anything else, this is an excellent spot to go when you’re looking to get wined and dined or do the wining and dining. It’s really a special place and they have something exceptional every day during the work week. The daily special is always going to be different, so it’s hard to tell you what they are going to do from one day to the next. But if you like nice surprises, this is reason enough to stop by if you’re looking to relax and unwind on a weekday.

One of our favorite things is their “build your own cheese and charcuterie board.” The platters taste absolutely amazing, they are savory and you get to choose the particular taste you’re going after. This will really make any date night extra special.

Lastly, they also have a promotion called Paint & Sip. Get together with a group of friends and go for an enjoyable evening while learning how to paint with a talented artist as you imbibe some of the best tasting wine that money can buy. It’s a fun and interesting way to spend an evening to say the least!

2. Underground Tasting Room

Get ready to have an amazing time in Old Sacramento. The Underground Tasting Room might not have been on your radar up until this point, but it’s definitely worth making a note of this exciting wine tasting room located at 900 2nd St. in Sacramento on the original level.

The wine bar is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, they are open from 11 AM to 5 PM. From Friday through Sunday, they are open at 11 AM to 6 PM.

What makes this place so special? It’s secluded, it’s right by the waterfront in Old Sacramento, and it’s actually pretty inexpensive if you’re looking for an thrilling evening of charming wine tasting.

You may discover wine that you absolutely fall head over heels in love with. Guess what? If you end up liking some of their wines, they are available for purchase. They even sell a number of different specialty goods like vinegars, sauces, and gourmet dips as well.

You’ll have to skip the dining part or do it somewhere else because they do not sell prepared meals here. So keep that in mind the next time you’re making plans for dinner and an evening of great tasting wine.

3. Downtown & Vine

Downtown & Vine is located at 1200 K St. in Sacramento and their hours are Monday through Friday from 1 PM to 8 PM. For the retail store, they open at 11 AM. They are typically closed on the weekends, but if you want them to host a private event you can contact them to find out more information.

Ultimately, many people love this place because it’s a great destination when you’re looking for tasty food and impeccable wine. They have small bites to snack on, artisan cheeses, honey, nuts, fresh fruits, baguettes, and many different types of shareable plates and flatbreads.

Besides that, the wine itself is absolutely incredible. You’ll be able to sample different wines to discover your latest obsession. If you like it, you can always buy it from the wine shop to take it home.

They also have live music and as we mentioned, you can have them host a private event. It’s definitely a great place to go in downtown Sacramento and you’ll absolutely love the overall experience, the great food, and the incredibly tasty wine.

4. The Firehouse

Also located in Old Sacramento, The Firehouse is an outstanding restaurant with an impeccable wine list, happy hour, a premier dining experience, and they even host private events as well.

The restaurant is located at 1112 2nd St. in Old Sacramento. For lunch, they are open from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM Monday through Friday. Their typical happy hour begins at 2:30 PM and ends at 6 PM on Monday through Friday. The bar opens at 11:30 AM and closes at 9:30 PM on Monday through Thursday. It’s open from 11:30 AM to 10 PM on Friday, 5 PM to 10 PM on Saturday, and 5 PM to 9:30 PM on Sunday. If you’re coming for dinner, they are open from 5 PM to 9:30 PM on Sunday through Thursday and 5 PM through 10 PM on Friday and Saturday.

You’ll love it here because the food is amazing, the wine tastes incredible, and this hidden gem of a restaurant has provided amazing wine and dining experiences for more than 55 years. They absolutely know what they are doing and the food is outstanding as you are about to learn after you give this wonderful place a try.
